Unsafe Sex and Alcohol Consumption
Recently there have been many studies in the news about the correlation of unsafe sex and alcohol. Studies say that it has already been established that alcohol does lower inhibitions and clouds your decision making process. Researchers want to narrow down the wide range of misjudgments made by those under the influence of alcohol. Twelve experiments were done and researchers concluded that with increased alcohol consumption, participants were more willing to engage in unsafe sex. The researchers were attempting to correlate sex, alcohol and HIV statistics. They propose that HIV prevention may also include alcohol abstinence for some people. Alcohol has an unhealthy influence on your brain capacity to function. This experiment was for the population as a whole, not just geared towards those who are addicted to alcohol. This is evidence that anyone is susceptible to making mistakes while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. A better research question may be, how many times do you repeat the same mistake before you decide to stop?
