Aftercare Program for Substance Abuse

aftercare programAlcohol and drug addictions are diseases, just like diabetes or hypertension. Thus, they require treatment, lifestyle changes, and preventive maintenance. Individuals and families sometimes think attending a rehab program is enough. Also, they think the results are permanent. But they soon are disappointed when a relapse occurs. Therefore, proper addiction aftercare and constant attentiveness ensures success.

At Stepping Stone Center for Recovery, both the Detox and Stabilization Program and the Relapse Recovery Program provide a comprehensive, individualized aftercare program. Each plan is created from knowledge gained through the results from the evaluations, assessments, and treatment provided paired with continued needs to support and encourage continued sobriety.

Aftercare Services & Solutions for Recovery

First, it’s important to acknowledge your short treatment stay at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery is not a final cure. Instead, it is really only the beginning stage of your addiction recovery path. Throughout your stay, you’ll be learning or revitalizing your coping skills that you can use far beyond treatment. For example, our group therapy and counseling provides a solid foundation. Thus, you’ll forward with an action plan addressing exactly what each next step should be to successfully stay in recovery.

Specifically, the aftercare program offers recommendations on lifestyle changes and preventive maintenance for your sobriety. Because as someone in recovery, you’ll need to diligently follow your program and actively manage your disease. The good news is you don’t have to do this alone. Your treatment team will ensure everything is set up with follow-up appointments, the next steps in treatment, and connecting you with our alumni community and a Certified Recovery Coach. Some other things we may help with as you transition include:

  • Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings
  • A sober-living house
  • Addiction aftercare groups
  • Psychiatric services
  • Family, Martial, or Vocational counseling
  • Work, school, or continued education
  • Physical rehabilitation
  • Medication management
  • Medication-assisted therapy maintenance

Our highly experienced case managers and aftercare coordinators work with your therapist and family to develop a plan for your specific situation and needs. They are an important part of your clinical team. They will:

  • Assess your needs and stay abreast of your progress
  • Discuss options with you and your family
  • Locate living arrangements, meetings, and doctors

Remember, Addiction is a Family Disease

The patient is often not the only one that needs help. The family system can also be very ill and require recovery. Thus, it is highly recommended families get involved with support groups, such as Codependents Anonymous or Al-Anon. Also, they should seek individual or family counseling. We want to return your loved one back to a safe and stable environment.
