The Admissions Process

1. Call 866-957-4960.

The first step, whether you are concerned about yourself or a loved one, is to call our free Addiction Helpline at 866-957-4960 and speak to a professional Admissions Coordinator. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to discuss your situation and provide immediate help.

2. Complete an intake evaluation by phone.

Our Admissions Coordinators will conduct a brief intake evaluation by phone to determine available treatment options. This will include gathering information on:

  • Types of substances being abused
  • Length and frequency of use
  • Any past treatment
  • Employment and living situation
  • Other medical conditions

3. Provide insurance information.

If you have private insurance, we will request your insurance information and ask that you allow us to contact your provider to determine benefit information.

4. Make travel arrangements.

Our Admissions Coordinators can help you make travel plans to our facility in Jacksonville, FL. If you are traveling by air, please fly into Jacksonville International Airport (JAX). We will have ground transportation waiting to drive you to our facility. If you are coming by car, we suggest that someone else do the driving. If you cannot find anyone to drive you and are bringing your automobile, there is plenty of parking available. However, there is no security for the lot and we cannot guarantee your car’s safety.

Initial Intake Assessment – Rehab Admission Criteria

Upon arrival, one of our nurses will conduct an initial assessment before introducing you to our medical director, a board-certified physician specializing in addiction medicine. The purpose of this initial assessment is to determine what substances are being abused, the length and frequency of use, any prior treatment, and other medical conditions. We pass this information to the medical director for further review.

Medical Examination

After reviewing your information, the physician will perform his own addiction assessment and provide you with a comprehensive physical examination. If you require detoxification from drugs or alcohol, we will design a program to minimize or eliminate withdrawal symptoms. We will also address any other medical issues at this time.

Psychiatric Assessment

Lastly, you will see our psychiatrist to discuss any mental health issues. If it is determined during the initial clinical assessment that a psychiatric disorder is present, you will see our board-certified psychiatrist both while in detox and directly after completing detox.

In many cases, patients are completely unaware a mental health problem even exists. It is our belief and experience that a patient who completes treatment without having the co-existing disorders treated concurrently is destined to end in relapse. For this reason, the staff at Stepping Stone receives extensive training and education in cutting-edge drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and dual diagnosis treatment services.

The time to focus on recovery begins in detox. It is strongly recommended that treatment immediately follow detox, as detox alone will not halt drug abuse.

We Are Committed to Your Confidentiality

The staff at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery is committed to providing all patients and their families with compassionate and superior care while protecting patient information and confidentiality.

Not only do we believe each patient has the right to complete privacy, federal and state law requires it. We carefully maintain patient records using the strictest accuracy and protect them at all costs.

At no time are we able to confirm or deny presence in our treatment program unless a patient has explicitly authorized us to do so, and then only to pre-approved persons.

Our facilities are tucked away in a quiet, wooded area of Jacksonville, free from distractions.

If you are using medical coverage for your stay, it will be necessary to provide your insurance or managed care company with clinical information in order to authorize your treatment.

Paying for Treatment

Many of our patients use their health insurance to cover the costs of drug and alcohol treatment. We are a participating provider for many of the major health insurance plans. Numerous PPO insurance plans also allow individuals to go outside of their network for care and services and reimburse them following treatment.

Our Admissions Coordinators are here to help you navigate rehab admission, including the insurance and financial details. They can explain costs, benefits, copayments, and deductibles.

Your Insurance Coverage

During your initial phone screening, we can contact your insurance company to check on your benefits and match them with the different levels of care we provide. Stepping Stone Center for Recovery works with the following insurances:

  • Aetna
  • Humana
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Value Options
  • CompPsych

This is not a comprehensive list of insurances that cover addiction treatment at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery. If you don’t see your insurance on this list, you may be able to utilize out-of-network benefits. Our Admissions team can help determine your specific insurance coverage for treatment. You can call the Admissions team at 866-957-4960 for assistance.

Our staff will also clearly explain any out-of-pocket expenses related to your stay in treatment. Ultimately, you and your loved ones should make an informed financial decision regarding drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Finances should not stand in the way of receiving help.

For any co-payments, or for those that choose to pay privately for their stay, we accept all major credit cards.
