It is natural. It isn’t a gateway drug. It doesn’t cause any harm to you. These are all common statements that people who smoke marijuana say. However the components in cannabis today are different. Other less potent types of marijuana contain an ingredient known as cannabidiol or CBD. CBD counteracts the THC in marijuana and minimizes psychotic side effects. The skunk cannabis being grown in the southeast has high levels of THC accompanied by very low levels of CBD resulting in more users experiencing psychotic side effects. It is becoming more common for individuals who abuse this skunk weed to experience mental health problems such as schizophrenia. Research is showing that those who abuse skunk week are more likely to experience psychotic illnesses like schizophrenia. Because marijuana is much more potent than it used to be individuals are more prone to becoming addicted. Unfortunately, the addiction has become so bad for some that they have had to seek help through addiction treatment. Like other drugs such as cocaine and heroin, this form of marijuana being produced in the southeast is destroying the future of its abusers and ruining entire families. Skunk marijuana it is now classified as a class B drug and is in the company of Codeine and Amphetamine.
